German Railways spends 1.3 billion euros to purchase green power

The German railway company recently signed a 1.3 billion euro hydropower supply contract with the German power giant RWE to show its determination to support green energy. President Robert Gruber called it "a milestone in the protection of the railways and the environment." According to the contract, from 2014 to 2028, RWE will provide about 900 million kWh of hydroelectric power annually to DT. According to statistics, the German railway is Germany's largest electricity sector, with an average annual power consumption of 103 billion kWh. Currently, green energy accounts for about 20% of Deere's electricity consumption. After the above contract is implemented, the proportion of green energy can be increased to 28%. The German Railways aims to increase the ratio to 35% by 2020.
