Scientists at Harvard University in the United States stated that they had built a soft robot that they said could work without communication and power tethers. Four-legged robots can stand up and walk on the ground.
The development team stated that the robot can carry more than 7 pounds is a hugely progressive robot. It can complete rescue missions, such as squeezing into the gaps of collapsed buildings to find victims, sending their own locations and images to rescue workers, and providing the trapped with water and medical potential. Harvard College and project team member Michael Tolley said, "I'm very excited because I think this is a more useful milestone for these types of robots becoming a real world. On the one hand, it seems to be a relatively simple matter, just Cut the control line, but many things must come together to make it a reality."
The soft robot of Harvard University is powered by the bottom, and its top is composed of silicone rubber composite material. The stiff rubber material impregnates the hollow glass beads to make them lighter. Harvard University stated that the research team tested the machine in the snow, flooded it with water, passed the flames, and even if there was a car running, it was a major improvement after every trial.
