Russian experts say Russia will increase imports of Chinese cars

Maxim Nagachev, director of the Russian Central Institute of Automotive and Engine Science (NAMI), revealed on the 31st that Russia is expected to increase its imports of Chinese-made cars in the next few years.

On the 31st, in the framework of the APEC summit chaired by Russia, Nagachev chaired the dialogue meeting for the automotive industry in St. Petersburg. Representatives of APEC economies officials and senior industry officials attended the meeting.

He said: "The goal of China's 13th Five-Year Plan is that by the time 2020 China produces two cars each, there should be one sold abroad. Considering that Russia is becoming the leading European market, it is clear that we will be included in the list. China's target list."

Nagachev pointed out that China currently produces about 20 million cars each year, and its export share does not exceed 3%. He did not make predictions on which Chinese car models might be the most marketable in Russia.

Nageev said that this year China has exported over 100,000 cars to Russia, which has doubled from last year.
