According to the British "Financial Times" reported on January 20, China's parallel imported car market is developing rapidly, causing a lot of pressure on many overseas automakers.
The price of parallel imported cars is nearly 20% cheaper than that of authorized dealers. This has caused some panic among many foreign automakers, especially those high-end auto brands that use China as the largest sales and profit market.
In 2012, the sales volume of parallel imported cars in China reached 83,000, while the total sales of passenger cars in the country was 18 million. According to the China Automobile Dealers Association, the Chinese government legalized parallel imported cars in August 2014.
Parallel imported cars refer to cars that are not authorized by brand manufacturers, traders buy from overseas markets, and are introduced into the Chinese market for sale, commonly known as “water trucks”.
