Rolls-Royce research ship propulsion system delivery
       Recently, Rolls-Royce has received a contract from the shipyard Fincantieri to supply a fully integrated propulsion system for a new polar research ship in Norway. The ship will be built by Fincantieri's Italian shipyard Riva Trigoso-Muggiano, and the final assembly will take place in Norway, where environmental research will be carried out in the Arctic and Antarctic. It is reported that Luo Luo's system includes generator sets with power system, various thrusters and automation and control systems, including two sets of Bergen B32: 40L9ACD and two sets of Bergen B32: 40L6ACD diesel generator sets.
The vessel will be named "FF Kronprins Haakon" and is expected to begin operation in 2017, using the NVC 395 POLAR design of the Luo Luo company, the shipowner is the Norwegian Maritime Research Institute, and the detail design is the responsibility of the shipyard Fincantieri. It can operate in harsh ice conditions and can conduct a wide range of maritime research, such as monitoring fish stocks, seabed sampling and mapping.
