The cost of bio-production of isobutanol is calculated at US$1,182 per ton, and at a cost of US$110 per ton of coal, the cost of isobutanol is US$650 per ton. Calculated at US$5 per million BTU per unit of natural gas, the cost of isobutanol is $652 per ton. IGP Energy has partnered with Topsoe and Linde to develop technologies for converting syngas to isobutanol. In China, IGP Energy has formed a joint venture with Yankuang Group as a strategic partner and the joint venture agreement has agreed to build three large-scale chemical plants. The project is conducted in two phases. The first-phase project, IGP, accounts for 51% of the total.
