The “Development of Production Technologies for Carbon 5 Resources for Comprehensive Utilization of Isoprene Rubber” is a science and technology support project of the Ministry of Science and Technology, a key research project for China Petroleum Research, and a major industrialization pilot project for new technologies for China Petroleum Refining and Chemical Engineering.

Isoprene rubber has the same molecular formula and properties as natural rubber. It is the only synthetic rubber that can replace natural rubber. At present, China has become the world's largest consumer of rubber, but its natural rubber self-sufficiency rate is only 23%. It is highly dependent on the international market. It is of great significance to develop isoprene rubber to supplement domestic natural rubber shortage and reduce dependence on foreign countries. .

On July 12, the Kiloton-scale isoprene rubber plant was handed in, and the project team then organized a plant-water linkage test. On October 19th, this device successfully implemented physical feeding and started the process flow of the raw material refining unit, catalyst unit, continuous polymerization unit, and agglomerated post-treatment unit of the unit and achieved stable operation. On November 25, the drive was successfully completed and batch, stable, and qualified isoprene rubber was obtained.

According to the person in charge of the Jilin Chemical Research Institute, the isoprene rubber plant adopts a series of key technologies. The catalyst system adopts a novel homogeneous rare earth catalyst amplification technology with high activity, high cis orientation, high molecular weight, and narrow molecular weight distribution; The process adopts solution polymerization technology and multi-kettle series compound agitation polymerization reactor amplification technology; the agglomeration process adopts self-developed wet coagulation technology and unique agglutination reactor design technology.

Jihua Research Institute independently applied for 8 national patents during the research of isoprene rubber project, and formed its own patented technology group of isoprene rubber.

Previously, isoprene rubber test products have passed the National Electrochemical and Spectroscopic Research and Analysis Center and the China Rubber Industry Association Material Testing Research Center. The product quality has reached the level of similar products in the world. It has been successfully applied to all-steel radial truck tires for the first time in China and can replace some natural rubber. It can fully meet the requirements for the use of all-steel radial truck tires. The finished tires are certified by the National Rubber Tire Quality Supervision and Inspection Center.

At present, the Jilin Chemical Research Institute has a complete R&D platform for small-scale test, model test, and pilot test. The successful drive of the 1,000-ton isoprene rubber device will be beneficial to the development of new technologies and new products for isoprene rubber. Effectively avoid industrialization risks. PetroChina has listed carbon five separation and comprehensive utilization as medium and long-term key development plans, and established Jihua Chemical Co., Ltd. as the carbon 4 and carbon 5 resource agglomeration processing base in Northeast China. During the “12th Five-Year Plan” period, Jilin Chemical will build a 60,000-ton/year isoprene rubber unit.
